The first thing you need to do (which very well might be the least popular) is talk to a loan officer. They need to:

  • pull your credit

  • assess if you can qualify for a loan

  • determine your down payment & payment plan.

Find a Real Estate Agent

Secondly, a buyer will need to find a real estate agent. Sometimes your lender can refer agents but I’m sure either family or friends has an agent they’ve worked with in the past they’d refer you to. If neither of those turn up agents you like, the internet will show you more agents in your area than you can manage.

Buyer's Consultation

Closing Costs will add up so make sure to include these in your Utah home buying financial plan. There are a lot of moving pieces to consider when buying your home and each one has to get paid:

First time home buyers are in a great position to get into a home often with a down payment of a few hundred dollars. Credit requirements are more relaxed as well. First time home buyers can be in a home within 45 days of getting pre-approved by a loan officer.
